I love art. I appreciate a good painting, especially if I know the artist, and he doesn’t need to be famous either. I am drawn in by a stunning photograph. And flowers of any kind stir my heart. It’s people I can live without. But that’s a contradiction. I’ve just mentioned loving artists and photographers and flowers, and they’re my friends. I guess what I’m saying is that I like certain kinds of people, those who have the guts see the world through their gift. And they’re not afraid to do their art badly. I think perfection is over-rated. It kills motivation. It paralyzes inspiration. Now doing things badly, that takes talent and humility. It offers freedom. And there’s always room for you in that circle.
If something is worth doing, it’s worth doing badly. — G. K. Chesterton
Calvin says, “That’s right. I followed a scent badly at first. I chased after the children.”
